Steps to Make This Easy Homemade Granola Recipe
First, open your oven door and position your oven rack in the middle. This will allow for even baking.
Then, preheat your oven to 300°F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. You can also use a non-stick silicone baking mat in place of the parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, sugar, spices (optional) and salt. Next, stir in the vegetable oil and maple syrup (or agave nectar) until the oats are evenly coated.
*Tip* If you would like to include dried fruit, nuts, seeds or any additions, you will add them after the granola has finished baking.
Next, evenly spread the granola along the baking sheet.
Bake the granola for 15 minutes, then stir to allow for even browning, and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes. You may need to bake a few minutes longer until your granola is golden brown in color.
Remove the granola from the oven and place the baking sheet on your counter or wire rack to cool. Don’t worry if your granola is a bit soft; it will harden slightly as it cools to room temperature.
Afterwards, you can then stir in additional ingredients like –
Raw or Roasted Chopped Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds or Cashews
Raw or Roasted Pumpkin Seeds or Sunflower Seeds
Semi-Sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips or White Chocolate Chips
Shredded or Flaked Coconut
Dried Fruit – Raisins, Cranberries or Blueberries
Freeze Dried Strawberries, Raspberries or Peaches

How To Store Your Homemade Granola
Once you take your granola out of the oven, let it cool completely before storing it in a container. It can be stored at room temperature for several days. However, for longer freshness, the granola can be refrigerated for up to a month in an air-tight container.
